Our Story

Moro’s journey began in 1845 with Tomaso Moro & Sons, a proud Italian family on the Ligurian coast. What started as a small business producing olive oil and preserved foods soon grew beyond Italy, as the family expanded into Spain. In 1926, they built one of the most advanced olive oil facilities of the time in Málaga, Andalusia — cementing Moro as a trusted name known for quality, tradition and flavour across both Italy and Spain.

In 1960, one of the Moro brothers carried that same passion halfway across the world to Australia, introducing Moro Olive Oil with the support of Conga Foods — an Australian, family-owned company committed to bringing the best of the Mediterranean to local homes. At the time, olive oil was still a novelty in Australia, found mostly in pharmacies. But with Moro’s arrival, it quickly moved from the medicine shelf to the kitchen shelf, becoming a beloved pantry staple.

When Conga Foods acquired Moro globally in the late 1970s, it marked more than a business milestone — it was the passing of a legacy from one family to another. Today, the Conga family continues to honour the Moro name, producing some of the finest Spanish olive oils and expanding the range to include artisanal Italian vinegars and glazes.
